More Israelite Roots in Africa

Westerners have “discovered” a new group claiming Israelite descent. They live in Senegal. Technically, they are Muslims and are considered members of the Soninke ethnic group, but they call themselves “Bani Israel” i.e., “the children of Israel”, and they have a tradition that they came to Africa from Egypt.

Some scholars are dismissing the claim, but as a former Israeli ambassador to Senegal has asked: why would a group of Muslims invent an Israelite history for themselves? It’s time that this phenomenon of “lost Israelites” was better investigated. My prediction, “Israeliteism” is going to become a major ideological force in places like Africa and Asia.
