Our Film Wins!
Recently I posted news of the film I produced with Felix Golubev and Ric Esther Bienstock who also directed; “Tales From the Organ Trade”. I’ve just been informed that at its world premiere in New Zealand we won the Gold Medal for “Best Film” in the “Sign of the Times” category. Ric was there to accept the kudos and the award. Next Sunday, April 28th, the film gets its North American premiere at the prestigious Hot Docs Film Festival in Toronto. Advance tickets are already sold out, but half the seats are sold at the venue and there are two extra screenings. Don’t miss it. I’ll be there.
“Tales From the Organ Trade” explores the moral ambiguity of kidney trade. Many people think there is no ambiguity on the issue – but there is! Think about it – a healthy person selling one kidney can change the quality of life for his children and save a life at the same time. Not simple. Read Michael Posner’s review of the film in Canada’s Globe and Mail.
Again, congratulations to all on New Zealand and good luck at Toronto’s Hot Docs.
